Firstly, I am missing you!
Mexico is beautiful, I sit here listening to the waves on the white sand beach, the rustling palms and if I close my eyes I see you combing the beach for whatever little treasures you can find, I hear you screaming in delight as the waves would crash against your legs and you would run away only to turn and do it again.
Yesterday we visited some Mayan ruins and I couldn’t help but wonder if you would have enjoyed it or not, you were so intrigued by ruins in Australia and somewhat perplexed, when something breaks you ask why? When something breaks because it is old or worn out you ponder, I can see some interesting conversations in our near future as you begin to process the effects of time.
We are going scuba diving this afternoon, I recall my first few dives and the utter amazement of a whole new world to me, it is breathtaking, beautiful, serene and a little scary all at the same time! I wonder if this is what it feels like to be your age, as I have few memories of my own from early childhood, every little fish, every coral I could sit and watch for an hour much like you when we go exploring to a new place or even an old one. A simple rock in the yard you pick up in your hand turn it over and feel it’s surfaces then pass it on to me to do the same and then we place it reverently in the rock garden. You are our cautious one, you’re initial reaction is I can’t do that when faced with a new challenge, but you can monkey, you can do anything and everything if you just believe you can!
My gorgeous girl who plants strawberries just so the squirrels have some food, makes cheese, ham and jam sandwiches and does the cutest wiggly dance, I can’t wait to show you the world, the beauty that can be found in every person and every place.
Love you to the moon and back!
